Betsy Lemley

Betsy Lemly is the GRASP Advisor for: Dinwiddie - dinwiddie@grasp4va.org King William - kingwilliam@grasp4va.org Matoaca - matoaca@grasp4va.org

Betsy Lemley was born and raised in the Richmond, VA area. She graduated from Douglas Freeman High School and then received her BS in both Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education from James Madison University. 

Betsy taught every elementary grade in both public and private schools until 2007. At that time, she left the classroom and began working for a non-profit called Project Discovery where she helped students in grades 6-12 to be better prepared for the next level of education. In 2012, Ms. Lemley began her journey of serving in the TRIO Educational Opportunity Centers through Virginia State University. In that position, she helped her students, aged 17 and up in five high schools and three prisons, to both apply to colleges as well as complete scholarship and financial aid applications. Upon retiring from full-time work in 2023, Betsy joined the GRASP team. Ms Lemley serves as an advisor at both King William High School in  King William County and Matoaca High School in Chesterfield County.
